Brian Richards, CSI Bottles plant manager
CSI Bottles, a custom blow molding company based in New Castle, Pa., has joined the Lawrence Mercer Manufacturers Coalition (LMMC) as one of its newest members.
Specializing in the production of plastic bottles, CSI primarily manufactures containers for the food industry using polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Among their most recognized products is the iconic “honey bear” bottle, producing 3.5 to 4 million of these bottles each month for honey producers.
Founded in Kansas more than 30 years ago, CSI opened its Pennsylvania plant in 2018 and now operates there with 25-30 employees. The plant runs two 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday and is soon adding a weekend shift to expand production.
With a focus on quality and innovation, the company maintains a food-grade, clean, air-conditioned facility, creating a safe and productive environment for its workforce.
“We take pride in providing opportunities for our employees, many of whom start in entry-level roles like packer/operator, but can quickly advance,” says Brian Richards, plant manager at CSI Bottles. “Most positions can be learned on the job, and there’s a clear path for growth and development.”
Richards, who serves on the board of Lawrence County School To Work, explains that joining LMMC aligns well with CSI’s values and goals.
“I live in Mercer County and work in Lawrence County, so I want to positively impact both communities,” he added. “Both Lawrence County School to Work and LMMC focus on the programs we need to grow the region. When you’re a new business, community is everything. LMMC’s culture and mission match what we want to build here at CSI.”
Julie Michael Smith, LMMC coalition manager, said in addition to the company’s membership, Richards accepted a position on LMMC’s board of directors..
“Brian’s vision for growing Lawrence County and offering rewarding career opportunities is a perfect fit for our organization,” she said. “His passion for career awareness and workforce development will be a great asset.”
